Everyday Motherhood

Dear Friend,

me and S_1880When I first became a mom, I wanted to be perfect.

To make the right choices. Do the right thing. Have the right stuff.

I thought by immersing myself into what the perfect mom would be, it’d all be ok.

It wasn’t.

I gave up everything I was and everything that defined me in pursuing this dream of perfection. I believed if I could make all the right decisions then we’d all be happy. I’d be happy.

Funny thing about perfection, though. It doesn’t exist. And I wouldn’t have found happiness there anyways because I’d be watching and waiting for that next mess to come along.

My journey started with a camera. Through the lens I could take a closer look at my life. Instead of seeing what, I thought, was an ugly, awful mess I saw love. I saw connection. I saw moments that warmed my heart. I realized for every 1 thing I thought I was doing wrong, there were many I was doing right. My camera helped me find the beauty that lives in our everyday life.

I am not perfect. My life is messy. There are good days and bad.

My camera was a gift. One I’d like to share with you. Join me in taking a closer look at your life. To search for those beautiful moments that exist in your every day even when it doesn’t feel like they’re there. To find a new appreciation for what you do.

Everyday you do beautiful, amazing things and you deserve to see that.

Each week for 4 weeks we’ll turn our attention to the things that make up life:

  • Routines
  • Your House
  • The In-Betweens, what I call those moments of quiet and connection.
  • And finally we’ll look at YOU and taking that step towards discovering who you are and what you love.

I know it feels like you don’t have time, or you can’t commit to one more thing, but I know firsthand how powerful it is to use your camera to look at your life in a new way. I hope you’ll join us, I would love to be part of your journey.

How will this class work?

During our 4 weeks together, I will share what I do to get through those hard days of mothering.

Each Monday you will receive an email from me sharing my personal photos and story, a journal prompt and a photography prompt related to that weeks theme. The themes we will be covering are:

  • Routines – slow down and take a moment to appreciate these ordinary moments.
  • Your House – look past the clutter and find meaning in the mess
  • The In-Betweens – find those moments of quiet and connection
  • You – take a step towards discovering who you are

The journal and photography prompts will guide you to slow down and find a new way of looking at those moments that make up your life.

You will also have access to a private Facebook group where you can share photos and get support from me and the other moms in the group. If Facebook is not your thing, no worries. I’ll still check in on you and be available to provide you support over email.

When does Everyday Motherhood take place?

Registration is closed for the Fall 2016 Session. If you’d be interested in taking Everyday Motherhood as a private mentored experience, email me at to discuss the details.

What do I need for this class?

A camera and pen & paper. I, personally, find it really helpful to journal as it gives me space to let all my feelings out. If journaling isn’t your thing, that’s ok. But I would recommend you give yourself at least 10 minutes each week to quietly sit and reflect on the journal prompts.

I don’t have a fancy camera/I’m not a photographer. Is that ok?

Absolutely! You can totally use the camera on your phone. This class isn’t about taking perfect pictures of what your life should look like. It’s about taking the time to shed light on your life and embracing it for what it is.
